ECA Sand & Play

For our ECA Sand and play we played with various containers of different shapes and sizes and tried to  fill them up using different objects:

Which ones needed more sand than others? which ones needed less sand than others? were they full? empty? half full? Could we use other objects to fill them with sand? How could we use all of the objects differently?

After playing in the sand we all sat at the table and  played with scented play dough. Reception is learning about the sense of 'smell' this week and is exploring the different types of smell we can experience. Each play dough had a different scent and children explore mark making by exploring their sense of smell. 

Sand and Play: Sticky & slippery

This week for our ECA Sand and Play we had a sensory activity:

Sticky & slippery

We poor sand in cups first

 then we added little fish balls to describe the 'bumpy' sensation

 then we added glitter to make it shiny

then food coloring to play with color mixing

then we added googlies eyes ans sequins to make a monster

and finally we played with the left over with toothbrushes ' it felt like toothpaste'
