Who lives in a house like this...

As an intermission from our hammering and sawing, the children learnt about various other types of birds. We have seen a selection of birds from around Thailand provided by our Headteacher Mr Booth.
We looked at the way birds move, saw some of the biggest and smallest, and discussed their natural behaviours.

We got down to some gluing and painting.

Children are provided with a variety of resources and are free to create from their own impressions.

The discussion led to a performance by the children. They decided to do an owl play. They thought it would be a good idea to make their pictures into wearable art, so we made them into masks!

We explored an owls natural habitat outdoors, but we cant wait to get our bird boxes out there. I wonder what types of birds we might see ?
We'll keep you posted on what Nature Club gets up to over the rest of our final term together.

Kind regards,

Douglas and the EY Team.

Our bird house

Recently we have been looking at birds, bird watching and engaging with how we can help the environment.
The children have been learning about how to hold equipment properly alongside designing their own birdhouse!!

Arin demonstrating how to use a hammer appropriately.

Children are able to use Junior hacksaws. These are not dangerous if used properly. They are also appropriate for children as they have a special fine cut blade.

We have made good progress towards our birdhouses which we will decorate and place in our playground.

EY: A Force of Nature

Hi all !

The children noticed forces and the weight of objects during our previous sessions. We looked at some ideas about forces and investigated how we could use it. We watched a few clips about natures forces and how this can affect our environment

The children have been getting to know each other well, and enjoy working as a team.

So after forces of nature [particularly Arin] we moved to the wind and trees for further advice.

Nature Club ECA

Hi all !

Thanks for signing up to the Nature club ECA. The children are very comfortable helping each other in class. They have been investigating many different aspects of their school environment and other aspects of school,  such as weather, shadows and recycling.

The sessions will take a child-led form further into the term. The children are not short on stimulation and interests when it comes to nature, and are keen to explore as much as possible.

Why do shadows get longer? What time of day are shadows at their longest?

Which shadows have you noticed recently?

The children have made recyclable envelopes, explored seeds and their flight, noticed birds and listen to animal sounds. Next week we shall be making kites to observe how the wind works.

See you soon !!
