Story Book Art for Chinese New Year

This week in story book art we learned about the upcoming Chinese New Year and how this year is the year of the horse.

We talked about  family traditions in China such as a big dinner, cakes, tea firecrackers and of course, the story of Nian. We talked about banging pots and pans to scare away this monster.

The children made an accordion dragon and decorated it with red and gold. We practiced cutting out our own dragon legs.

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Mandarin Club

Role play and dance Jan 23rd

This week in Role play ECA the children enjoyed dressing up and becoming different characters. They got to dance around to some of their favorite songs and enjoyed helping each other to make food in their pretend kitchen. Take a look at some of the photos of the children dancing and playing.

Story Book Art Monday January 20

Welcome back to Term 2 Story Book Art!

Ms. Sarah and I are happy to have the Term 2 children back in our ECA.  On Monday we read a lift the flap book on Wibbly pig and his search for his friends through a garden and a magical castle in the clouds.

The children then made beautiful lady bugs out of paper plates. They were able to choose their own colour, however, red was the most popular choice!
