Fun Science wk 2

Our next experiment focused on our sense of sight. We discovered how our eyes reflect light to create pictures of the world and looked at different kinds of eyes in the animal kingdom. We learnt that many animals cannot see in colour at all but, luckily we can!
We used the "magic milk" experiment to explore colour mixing and made some beautiful patterns.
You can try this easily at home all you need is full fat milk, food colouring and liquid soap.

First we added a few drops of different coloured food colouring to our dishes of  milk and observed how the colours spread on the surface. The colours sometimes touched but didn't mix.
Next, we dipped cotton buds into the liquid soap and gently touched different areas of the coloured milk. The class were amazed by the way in which the soap repelled the milk, forcing the colours away from the cotton bud and into each other and causing them to mix.
Everyone was fascinated by this experiment and happily tested this colourful reaction over and over again!
